Week 3: The Girl Who Jumps In The Pool

November 26, 2008

After going to the panel, a lot of conversations about the call-out order were held in the limousine. While Sophie was disappointed to find herself as the last few ones called, it came as a surprise for Megg to be called fifth. Joanie swears to do better the following week. Alice, meanwhile, is enjoying her moment at the top, after being called at the last panel. Katarzyna, as well, enjoyed being called early, since she thinks she has proven to the judges that she can model.

At home, Gemma invites the girls to chill, but only Megg was in the mood to do so. Gemma excitedly jumps in the pool with Megg, and the two played some games. In the confession room, Gemma expresses her disappointment in herself for not letting go as much and promises to do better this week. Liya tells Doutzen about her issues, while the latter expresses some of her own, being included in the Bottom 3 last week. A mail informing the girls about the challenge to occur the next day arrived, which motivates the girls to sleep.

The next day, world-renowned photographer Guy Aroch, and the staff visit the girls at their home, and informs them that the actual shoot is going to occur in the comfort of their home. The girls and their hobby were as follows:

 Week 3 Challenge

Many excelled in their shoot, while some still struggled to look natural. In the end, it was revealed that Joanie was this week’s challenge winner, to her delight. Megg openly tells that she thought she was going to win, but still congratulates Joanie. In the confession room, Gemma questions why the judges aren’t seeing Improvement in her, although she says she will try. Liya, meanwhile, tell Doutzen about her frustration of problems coming one after the other.

The Ivanka Mail, which hinted, “You will realize only when you grow up; that only one can be on top”, arrived moments after, which revealed their photoshoot for the week. Megg and the others instantly guessed it was all about future careers, which was on the nail.

The girls go to their shooting destination the next day, with world-famous photographer Stan Shaffer waiting for them. The models and their desired future occupations were as follows:

 Week 3

Gemma’s improvement was apparent at the set, while Katie shows consistency in taking stunning photographs. Candice, however, miserably fails to deliver, and Sophie starts to show signs of falter. After the shoot, the girls go straight to panel, to their surprise.

At the judging panel, many girls received praises while some were harshly criticized. After a long deliberation, Gemma was called first, after producing one of the best photographs in the entire competition, followed by Joanie and Katie, respectively. After a few names were called, Candice, Doutzen, and Liya were revealed as the Bottom 3, but Liya’s unrefined talent became apparent and was spared. While Candice was told that she was worst of the week, Doutzen was criticized for not using her potential for her advantage. In the end, the judges felt that Candice’s overall competition performance was stronger than that of Doutzen, sending the latter packing. Teary-eyed Candice steps forward to take her picture, and hugs Doutzen goodbye.

Week 2: The Girl Who Falls Down The Stairs

    November 7, 2008

After the panel, the girls go back to their loft and discuss their experience in the panel. Some were grateful for the early call-out, while others questioned theirs. The models sleep early, excited for the next day’s happenings.

A new Ivanka Mail came to the house by morning, but it wasn’t a photo shoot. Rather, it was the second challenge of the competition. In the mail, the girls were asked to go on a shoot executing their signature pose; a pose they would like to get famous for.

The models and their signature poses were as follows:

     Week 2 Challenge

While some of the girls perfectly execute their poses, many struggled to figure a specific pose they want to do. Megg once again almost misses the challenge, to the disappointment of world-renowned photographer David McCabe. In the end, Alice was declared the challenge winner, with a score of 88.5. Ivanka as well announced that the Bottom 3, which consists of Doutzen, Megg, Samantha, have to step it up at the shoot, or one of them might just be the next girl packing.

The girls go back home, and preparing for bed. In the confession room, Gemma feels sad about not winning the challenge, but was happy for Alice and that she wasn’t in the Bottom 3. Megg entered the confession room after Gemma, and expressed her embarrassment for being called out as part of the Bottom 3. She then swears that she will work twice as hard in the photo shoot to save herself from going home.  While going down the stairs, Sophie accidentally tripped and rolled down. Her clash and cries were heard throughout the house, and Samantha came to assist while Alice stares in fear. Medics were soon brought to the house, and Sophie’s wounds were cleaned and taken care of. After the medics left, the girls decided to sleep, eager for a brand new day.

The next day, the girls receive Ivanka Mail, which said: “With all your strength, you must fight, for the competition is about to get tight”. The girls then figured that they were going to be superheroines for their next shoot. Excited, the girls leave the house and arrive to the studio minutes after.

At the shoot, everyone was punctual, which pleased world-famous photographer Glen Luchford. While some succeed in getting good shots, the efforts of some fall short. Chantal, Katarzyna and Katie deliver strong photographs, Gemma and Megg were noted for their improvement at the shoot, while Doutzen, Joanie, and Samantha struggle to find the perfect shot. After a long day of work, the models go back home to rest and prepare for the panel the next day.

At the panel, judging became tougher as many of the girls received harsh critiques, to their dismay. Paulina and Ivanka then discussed and deliberated who deserves to stay and who doesn’t. When the girls were called back, it was revealed that Alice, the challenge winner, received the first call-out, and was followed by Katie and Katarzyna, respectively. Moments after, Doutzen, Joanie, and Samantha were then told that they were the Bottom 3, but Doutzen was saved after her strong previous performance. While Joanie was criticized for always performing average, Samantha’s modeling skills were questioned. In the end, Joanie was spared for elimination, since the judges thought her issue was easier to fix than that of Samantha.

  • Challenge Winner: Alice Burdeu
  • First Call-Out: Alice Burdeu
  • Bottom 2: Joanie Dodds and Samantha Francis
  • Eliminated: Samantha Francis

Week 1: The Girl Who Sings Around The House

    October 28, 2008

As the competition started, thirteen lovely model aspirants arrived at their luxurious home at New York City. The girls hastily chose rooms and room mates, and some quickly cliqued with other. Chantal and Joanie became friends at an early stage of the competition, and Gemma and Saleisha have formed a bond between each other. Meanwhile, Candice, after seeing how most of the girls spoke about their previous experiences, mocked some of the girls’ cockiness in the confession room.

The first ever Ivanka Mail arrived a few moments later, which wrote: “Before you model, within you must know, for the one who is outshined will be ready to go”.  While some could not interpret the meaning of the Mail, the message quickly came through some. It was then revealed that the girls would be relying on their personalities in their photos this week. As the models were about to leave the house, Samantha and Sophie suddenly felt sick. This, however, did not become a hindrance for them to join the week’s shoot.

The girls and their personality were as follows:

While many of the girls succeeded to get their personalities across their photos, some delivered blank expressions and blandness in their photographs. Katarzyna, Saleisha, and Sophie were late for the shoot, while Megg barely made it. After a long day of work, the models finally go back to their house.

At home, many were satisfied with their performance on set, and hoped that the judges will like their photo. Chantal and Joanie talk about their shoot today, while Gemma and Saleisha continue to strengthen their bond. Katie released her stress by running around the house singing, which Candice sighed to. All the models head to bed early, anxious yet excited for tomorrow’s first judging panel.

Going to panel, all the models were apprehensive, given that it will be their first time to officially meet the judges. Some received positive feedbacks with their photos, while some received constructive criticisms about their photographs. After a tough deliberation, Sophie was called first for a photo which translated well, and she was declared this week’s challenge winner for translating her personality the most.Liya and Alice were then called, respectively. After a couple of names were called, Megg, Saleisha, and Samantha were revealed as the bottom three, but Samantha was saved when she performed slightly better than the bottom two. While Megg received criticisms about her dead photo, the judges criticized Saleisha for looking fake and cheesy in her photo. In the end, Saleisha was sent home for performing the least impressive of the week, thus saving Megg.

  • First Call-Out: Sophie Wittingslow
